Kristina Will Still Marry Rodale
25/04/2020
Unless you’ve been oblivious to the world’s current state, we can agree that a lot has changed since our last post. We are nearing the end of April 2020 and still in the midst of a global pandemic by the name of COVID-19. Quarantine regulations have been in place in Alberta now for more than a month and it’s crazy to see how fast things have been evolving. Just 2 weeks before Calgary announced its state of emergency, Rodale and I were in Edmonton for our food tasting with no clue as to what was to unfold in the near future.
Some good news is that Rodale is fortunate enough to continue working from home. I’m still unfortunately temporarily laid off--but thankfully avoiding the risk of possible exposure. Both of us and our families have been doing well, staying healthy, and FaceTiming (and Housepartying) plenty.
Some more good news (despite having to cancel our reception), is that we’ve decided to still get married! Woohoo!!
I’ll admit... it was a little harder for me to accept all the changes that we’ve had to make. I’ve spent countless hours on Pinterest (like the rest of the female population) and gathering ideas to fulfill my vision (...even before we were engaged lol), and I’ve dreamed of the joy of being surrounded with every single person that has impacted our lives in one way or another. Our married friends always reassured us that even if things don’t go our way, it was still going to be one of the best days of our lives. So I prepared myself to make room for adjustment. Little did I know how much adjusting we would need to make.
But I thank God for Rodale because without him, I would be a big puddle of anxiety right now. We were talking one night and he told me that he was finding this experience quite humbling. I didn’t understand at first, but as he continued to explain, I became more confident in our decision. It’s a little easy to get sucked into the glamour of the wedding world (for me, at least), and sometimes the focus starts to shift more towards perfecting the celebration and perhaps pleasing others. Making the decision to continue to get married in the midst of this pandemic is allowing us to place more emphasis on what the Sacrament means to us: to become one in front of the Lord. And we’re beyond excited to be taking this next step!
We continue to get reminded by a lot of you (and that speaks volumes about the kind of friends we like to keep) that God has a special plan for our future. We may not be able to fully understand what exactly is brewing in His extraordinary mind, but the least we can do is trust.
The future for us remains an unknown quantity, which we now accept without anxiety. Love has overcome anxiety. The future depends on love. Andrew in "The Jeweler's Shop"
Stay safe,
Kristina xoxo
Kristina Marries Rodale...in 90 Days
23/02/2020
By now you should be familiar with our monogram "KRM"—of quadruple meanings, apparently: Kristina Manalang Roxas, Kristina Marries Rodale, Kristina Roxas Mendoza...hopefully, you've deduced it to Kristina & Rodale Mendoza. Because we are—err, will be! In 90 days, that is. And we'll be one. Through the Sacrament of Most Holy Matrimony. Crazy!
We’re super blessed to have very talented friends and we want to thank Michael Parillas, for helping us out and making our vision come to life. As well, we wanted to make each invitation somewhat unique so instead of getting them printed, we decided to stamp the monogram and wedding details one by one. Michael suggested we carve out our own rubber stamp. And so we did:

We Made a Thing!

Happy New Year, dear friends! Welcome to our main hub that will house all the information you need regarding our wedding day. Bear with us as this site is still under construction, but please RSVP as soon as possible.
“...why red cold mountain?” you ask. Well, unfortunately “casamendoza.com” was taken. So we needed a solution. For you etymology nerds, Roxas originates from the Spanish surname Rojas, which is the feminine plural adjective of rojo (red). Secondly, Mendoza originates from two words in the Basque language: mendi meaning mountain, and hotz meaning cold. (TL;DR: Roxas = Red, Mendoza = Cold Mountain)
Back in September we made a teaser/save the date video. You can see it HERE again if you'd like. Special thanks to Carlo Reyes for filming. Be sure to come back once in a while for more content updates.
142 days to go! Pray for us, people.
Cheers,
Rodale + Kristina
